Banished from his country, an embarrassment to his family and the Queen of Great Britain, Tucker Shaw laid in the bottom of a ship for weeks on his way to America. His disregard for law and order in his homeland called for severe punishment, but because his family had ties to the Queen he was given a most unusual sentence. He was to be discarded on the shores where outlaws roam. Though Tucker was shocked and saddened at being exiled from his homeland, he was somewhat excited about having the chance to see and rub shoulders with notorious outlaws. The idea of seeing Dodge City, Kansas and other lawless towns appealed to him. But when he was dumped ashore what he found was anything but outlaws and Wild West towns. He was in the middle of swamps infested with alligators, and his first encounter with people was a Cajun family with ruthless ways and a tyrant by the name of Reed Fletcher. Imprisoned by the swamp and Fletcher he wondered if he would ever see the heart of outlaw country. Tucker finds himself walking a fine line between outlaw and lawman, but sooner or later he would have to be one or the other. The West demands it. Meanwhile the beautiful Cajun, Macie, whom he met in the swamps, would haunt him while he took on the law and evaded Reed Fletcher at the same time. He meets an old sheriff by the name of Sanders and liked him immediately. Circumstances the old lawman was in dictated Tucker's decision as to what he had to do next. In order to help out his new found friend he was made to wear a badge. Tucker had read and wondered what it would be like to live in the Wild West, and he was fast finding out. He was a young carefree flamboyant man until he was left where outlaws roam... until he unknowingly fell in love with the beautiful dark eyed Macie. No one could be trusted and no one or anything was safe. Though wearing a badge, Tucker would be forced to make another hard decision, take Macie and run or let her be taken to jail for a murder she swore she didn't commit. The hell of it was, all the evidence pointed at her, and her motive... protect Tucker Shaw.

"Royal is a great writer, but this book desperately needs editing, and those mistakes take away from the story for me. He's not only a great singer/songwriter, but a cowboy who knows the west very well. I highly recommend this book."

- Royal is a great writer, but this book desperately needs editing, and those mistakes take away from the story for me. He's not only a great singer/songwriter, but a cowboy who knows the west very well. I highly recommend this book.
- WHERE OUTLAWS ROAM is a great story with characters you will love and hate from the first page on. It's no surprise Royal Wade Kimes captures your emotions and attention so quickly and so completely you find yourself immediately immersed in the story—he's one of America's best songwriters and that gift translates over to his books. My recommendation Listen to his CD, Shadows of Time in the background as you read the book. You're in for the treat of a lifetime.
- Like the " back beat" of a Royal Wade Kimes song, "Where Outlaws Roam" will have you hooked from the start.
As I read this book I found myself transported back into time, I love Cajun country ,so I smiled thinking about how Tucker must had felt being tossed out into the mist of ' cajun country" .
Where Outlaws Roam held my attention and I could not wait to turn the next page to find out how Tucker would handle his many sitautions.
I believe there is a little hidden Tucker & Macie in all if us , maybe that's why this book resonates with me.
When an author can transport their readers back into a different time with their words and make you feel as if you were there, then to me the author did his job,so ,well done Royal Wade Kimes, well done. - This book was very entertaining! Just when it seems all the good books have been written, this one lets you know there is still a lot of creativity left. This author has come up with something new and fresh. From start to finish I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The characters were described so well that I could see and hear them, and the story had me guessing until the very end. Love this book!
- This is the best book I've read in a long time, my husband also loved the book. It's well written, very interesting characters.., I didn't want it to end, just made me want more. I hope he writes another book soon.
- This is not Royal's first book and I'm sure it won't be his last, but so far it is his best. He has a way of telling a story that will keep you turning the pages to see what is going to happen next. Where Outlaws Roam is packed with unexpected suspense in each chapter. Order your's today and while you are at it order some of his CDs. His music is the very best.
- A well written book that keeps your interest to the very end. I love a book I can't put down until I see what happens! Can't wait for his next book! DB
- A good read for the western lovers, waiting on the second book.
